Biography
Zhao Wenjie was born on March 3, 1952, in Foshan, Guangdong, China—an area historically known for its deep martial arts heritage.
Raised in a modest household, Zhao was introduced to kung fu at the age of six under the guidance of a local master. His early training was strict and rooted in traditional Shaolin discipline, focusing not only on physical strength but also mental control and spiritual balance.
During his teenage years, Zhao trained in multiple martial arts styles, including Wing Chun, Hung Gar, and Tai Chi. His dedication and skill quickly set him apart, earning him recognition in regional martial arts circles.
In the 1970s, inspired by the rise of martial arts cinema, he moved to Hong Kong to pursue opportunities in the film industry. He started as a background fighter and stunt performer in classic kung fu films.
